The DSS Birthday Bash and Next Designer Contest!

Ok, so I'm just crazy enough to enter again this year! I may have already posted about this, but it's exciting! The contest starts on September 1st, and goes all month long. After some thought on the 2 years past that I've entered, I've realized that this year will be the first one that will not be during Mercury Retrograde period. I do hope this is in my favor this year. I'm not in it for the prizes, but for the experience, and even the possible chance at being on the design team at the Studio. I've looked back at kits I've created and I've seen just how far I've come. It's really amazing to me, and I've STILL got so much to learn!
Tricks of the trade? Having great resources for kit materials. Yes, creating your own is and always will be most awesome, but to have that action/ribbon/style already for you to use? priceless. definitely worth the small amount you will pay for them! If you can find great quality CU Freebies even better. These are the sites i HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for designer resources:

So is the Digital Scrapbooking Studio's annual birthday bash! I'm once again giving the contest a go. I'm not in it for the tablet prizes or other prizes really.. a chance to be on the Studio team would be fantastic though! I think this will be the 3rd time I've entered the contest. I'm not sure if it'll be open to public voting, if it is, I'll be asking once again for your help! i think I've come a LONG way from my first attempt at this contest.

New Design!

Complete! only took me 2 days.. well if i'm technical ..about 6-8 hrs total, but it was spread out over 2 days.
I've saved the templates so that I can change around and use for other things. I don't like how the dimensions I i found don't exactly work, and the html/css justification had to be changed. so if anyone out there knows the proper dimensions please..i'd love to know them. thanks!

Took me a couple days to get out this kit. The theme and color palate really stumped me. I think my favorite part of this is the cluster frame. I'm also really stoked at the argyle / diamond patterned papers. Thanks Sherah for showing me how it's done!

ME! haha! I've been taking classes and learning how to improve my design technique with Sherah of Skrapper Digitals for a few years now. I've decided to pay it forward. I'll be teaching PSP'ers how to implement the techniques that Sherah teaches in her weekly lessons, in PSP.

The DigiDesign Academy, is a fantastic resource. If you just want to learn how to digital scrapbook to save trees, it's great. if you want to improve your digi skills, it's great for that too! If you just want to learn something new, well that's a fantastic option as well!! There are several platforms for you to use with the DDA. Photoshop is the main one taught. You can also use Paint Shop Pro, and GIMP- which is a free photo editing software similar to Photoshop.
Ease of use for a person new to this digital design world would be PSP. It's also not that expensive. The next on the list of ease, that would be GIMP, it's also free. Harder to use, but so many more tools & options is Photoshop. All are great platforms.

So, Spread the word! Learn how to digi scrap at the DDA!!

Morning!! It's ISD (iNSD)

So, late last night I was finishing up my latest kit, Game Night. It's awesome! A full sized kit ~ 8 papers and 20 elements all created at 300dpi! I worked hard all day to get this kit finished.

So, what are you doing today for International Scrapbooking Day? Me? i'll just be creating more stuff..and then probably the domestic stuff...you know, Shopping, Laundry, child wrangling lol!

I'm also working hard on an outdoor kit that i hope will be up in the store by month's end.

It's been a rough month for me. I've rolled my car and have been searching for a replacement that will be big enough to carry 4 kids and 2 adults, but I don't want another SUV or Minivan.. ICK! My heart is set on a LARGE pickup truck.. weather or not it happens..well that's yet to be seen. have to make every dollar stretch right now.

So it's gonna be winter themed..but not christmas, as not everyone celebrates it..myself included.

i'm thinking about calling it Winter Holiday. it's not gonna be a full sized kit by any means, which means it shouldn't take me a month to do. but it'll be decent.

If anyone would like to have the Classic Hollywood Romance Kit, I'm asking $1.50 for it. there's A LOT in that kit..it was a prize for the 100 fan, which was Lynne. i'm sure that there'll be future freebies.. probably in add-ons to this current kit i'm working on. i hate to say it..but kits are currently my ONLY source of income. it sucks, but it's life right now. thankfully, my parents rock and have taken my large crew in, indefinitely. i hope it's not..but well it is what it is.

It took me 10 days from the start of my elements creation to finish the more than 30 that i ended up with. I'm really proud of my first Full Sized kit! granted i know i'll look back on it in a few years and be like.. "What was i thinking?" but for now, i'll just be proud of it,and puff out my feathers and celebrate my hard work!!

It took a whole nother week to finish all the elements for this kit. I'll be posting it soon for y'all to see. I've been studying preview designs and packaging to see what i think best works for me, to make my creations most presentable to you. So it is my hope to have it all up and posted by monday night before i leave for 10 days and i'm off grid as far as design goes. which stinks..but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Lynn Callister was the lucky lady who'll be getting the full kit first, before i decide if i'm offering it as a freebie or selling it. i've also got another kit in the works, for breast cancer awareness, as i recently found out that my aunt is fighting breast cancer.

Ok, didn't make it to round 3..but it's alright. i have much growing to do. entering a contest for next designer during mercury retrograde..well that's just silly, but i gave it my best.
I've got my last entry for the contest ready for you.
It's just a 12 paper kit 12x12 @ 300dpi. Right now, i'm working on fleshing it out with hopefully 25-30 elements. so it'll be a decent sized kit when i'm done.

Well i didn't make it past round 1. apparently only a handful of people with 5 votes passed on to the next round..a bit unfair in my mind, but it's not my contest. i know that my designs are still rough. i'm still competing in the second chance contest, but just for more practice. if you see my stuff, please don't vote for it. i will now be posting my entries and stuff to my page here and on face book.. so my work will be seen.

In true Gemini Fashion.. i've changed my mind yet again. I really should know better than to be starting something like this going into a Mercury Retrograde period...BUT.. i seem to work my best during these periods. going back to things left on hold..which is what this time frame is all about. Speaking of..this reminds me of other business i've left unfinished. it's just hard business TO finish. I plan to continue on this path come hell or high water. I need art in a form i'm comfortable with to make me happy. i just need to network and get myself out there so that i can earn what i can from it. Rough seas ahead, but please don't jump ship on me just yet.
