Ok, so I'm just crazy enough to enter again this year! I may have already posted about this, but it's exciting! The contest starts on September 1st, and goes all month long. After some thought on the 2 years past that I've entered, I've realized that this year will be the first one that will not be during Mercury Retrograde period. I do hope this is in my favor this year. I'm not in it for the prizes, but for the experience, and even the possible chance at being on the design team at the Studio. I've looked back at kits I've created and I've seen just how far I've come. It's really amazing to me, and I've STILL got so much to learn!
Tricks of the trade? Having great resources for kit materials. Yes, creating your own is and always will be most awesome, but to have that action/ribbon/style already for you to use? priceless. definitely worth the small amount you will pay for them! If you can find great quality CU Freebies even better. These are the sites i HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for designer resources: Http://www.actionfx.com Memberships are quite inexpensive and the amount of information is just INCREDIBLE! http://www.atomiccupcake.com again, the quality and number of actions/styles and yes, even kits if you're a scrapper is fantastic! http://www.obsidiandawn.com Love, Love, LOVE her brushes! She gives them away for free!! Do her some lip service, and donate too if you have the means!
IF you're a PSP user, an invaluable resource is http://www.outlawbydesign.com her tubes are just fantastic!
and now, for next kit preview I've got in the stores ^_^
So is the Digital Scrapbooking Studio's annual birthday bash! I'm once again giving the contest a go. I'm not in it for the tablet prizes or other prizes really.. a chance to be on the Studio team would be fantastic though! I think this will be the 3rd time I've entered the contest. I'm not sure if it'll be open to public voting, if it is, I'll be asking once again for your help! i think I've come a LONG way from my first attempt at this contest.
I know it's been nearly a month since i've posted..my apologies! i've got several kits to post here.. you will either find them as a stand alone in one store, or part of a monthly mega for extra awesomeness in another! So you'll have to go to each store to support the Monthly mega or if you just want the smaller piece ;)
This kit is part of the August Scrap it Sassy mega-
you'll also find it for sale separately at Ivy Scraps
This mini is part of the September Ivy Scraps mega,
It's also available at Scrap it Sassy as a stand alone.
There will be more kits to come this month as I play catch up. How many, i'm not too sure, but be on the look out! ^_^
Complete! only took me 2 days.. well if i'm technical ..about 6-8 hrs total, but it was spread out over 2 days.
I've saved the templates so that I can change around and use for other things. I don't like how the dimensions I i found don't exactly work, and the html/css justification had to be changed. so if anyone out there knows the proper dimensions please..i'd love to know them. thanks!
Feedback is always welcome! too hard to read? too cluttered? let me know! thanks! ^_^
Took me a couple days to get out this kit. The theme and color palate really stumped me. I think my favorite part of this is the cluster frame. I'm also really stoked at the argyle / diamond patterned papers. Thanks Sherah for showing me how it's done!
Look for this kit in store very soon! It's my portion of the Monthly Mega at Ivy Scraps!
ME! haha! I've been taking classes and learning how to improve my design technique with Sherah of Skrapper Digitals for a few years now. I've decided to pay it forward. I'll be teaching PSP'ers how to implement the techniques that Sherah teaches in her weekly lessons, in PSP.
The DigiDesign Academy, is a fantastic resource. If you just want to learn how to digital scrapbook to save trees, it's great. if you want to improve your digi skills, it's great for that too! If you just want to learn something new, well that's a fantastic option as well!! There are several platforms for you to use with the DDA. Photoshop is the main one taught. You can also use Paint Shop Pro, and GIMP- which is a free photo editing software similar to Photoshop.
Ease of use for a person new to this digital design world would be PSP. It's also not that expensive. The next on the list of ease, that would be GIMP, it's also free. Harder to use, but so many more tools & options is Photoshop. All are great platforms.
So, Spread the word! Learn how to digi scrap at the DDA!!
So, late last night I was finishing up my latest kit, Game Night. It's awesome! A full sized kit ~ 8 papers and 20 elements all created at 300dpi! I worked hard all day to get this kit finished.
So, what are you doing today for International Scrapbooking Day? Me? i'll just be creating more stuff..and then probably the domestic stuff...you know, Shopping, Laundry, child wrangling lol!
You can now also find me at Ivy Scraps www.ivyscraps.com ! yep! The forum is hoppin' with all kinds of activity, monthly challenges, bingo with the bingo queen Carmen of Lightning Bug Creations!
Now, to try and find my PSP 8 because that's where my animation shop it. i need to create a blinkie.. I think I also want to revamp my logo..but not sure what I want to do with it just yet.
Trying to expand my design horizons. I've got a few element packs I am going to give a try and put up. I hope they are well received. I actually got the idea from looking through a sunday store flyer. lol!
the color palate was ours to choose, the theme was wedding. i chose my color palate and challenged myself to create better than i had before. i do love what i came up with. 12 papers 12x12 @ 300 dpi. yep! huge. but those were the requirements. and the best part for you? it's free to download for the next week! after that, it's going up in my store so grab it while you can!
Here's the preview:
You may have to register at DSS but it's free! lots of freebies going on right now, so if you're a scrapbooker, digital or hybrid or straight paper, take a look! so many different quality paper packs to choose from!
This week's challenge? The elements. 30 of them. all different, no recolors. which i try my hardest to not do anyway.
Be on the lookout for the elements. i hope to have them all created before the weekend is out. i've got school next week!
I should have posted before now, i've got a fabulous new gempack in the store. CU Ok!
Clicking the preview should take you to the store.
I'm also working hard on an outdoor kit that i hope will be up in the store by month's end.
It's been a rough month for me. I've rolled my car and have been searching for a replacement that will be big enough to carry 4 kids and 2 adults, but I don't want another SUV or Minivan.. ICK! My heart is set on a LARGE pickup truck.. weather or not it happens..well that's yet to be seen. have to make every dollar stretch right now.
As always, if you've made a layout with one of my designs, i'd love to see it! Feel free to reply with a comment here with it or send me an e-mail at butterflygypsie (at) gmail (dot) com (sorry, don't want spammers, just remove symbol words & spaces to make it work ;) )
